About Your REALTOR® Association

The New Orleans Metropolitan Association of REALTORS® provides its members with a host of benefits. To perform these many and varied tasks, NOMAR is structured into elected Boards of Directors, appointed committees and full time staff members. Together, these groups form a team that directs and innovates the Association and works to benefit both members and consumers. The Association is governed by a Board of Directors, elected for staggered three year terms by the general membership. The Directors, in turn, elect officers to serve one year terms. Board members are veteran REALTORS® who give freely and generously of their time for the Association's benefit.

In addition, the Gulf South Real Estate Information Network or GSREIN has an autonomous Board of Directors and officers who lead this corporation. Wholly owned by the New Orleans Association of REALTORS®, GSREIN provides more than 4,000 MLS participants and subscribers the most up-to-date Multiple Listing Service available at the most economical cost possible.

Another arm of your Association is the Commercial Investment Division or CID which also elects its own board and officers. The CID was formed to foster knowledge, education, integrity and professionalism in the fields of commercial real estate and to enhance opportunities for all its members.

In addition to the Boards of Directors are various task forces and work groups that suggest and implement strategy, perform specialized oversight and plan events for the Association. Working full time for members' benefit is the NOMAR and GSREIN staff. These Professionals perform the nuts and bolts tasks that make the Association work. From Legislative oversight to MLS administration to coordinating educational functions to running the REALTOR® Store, the staff is indispensable to all the functions of NOMAR.

Within the New Orleans Metropolitan Association of REALTORS® are specialized councils, such as the Women's Council of REALTORS® and Council of Real Estate Specialists. These groups meet on a regular basis to promote their own interests.

Last, NOMAR is an active and respected member of both the Louisiana Association of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS®. Membership in NOMAR automatically conveys membership in LRA and NAR. This means statewide and nationwide efforts and muscle go into supporting and protecting your profession.

The bottom line task of the New Orleans Metropolitan Association of REALTORS® is to protect members' business interests and enhance their opportunities. The Association will succeed in this task only through participation of its members. Please do not hesitate to contact the staff, board or committees if you have any ideas that might help.
